Translational Research

Translational research is a relatively new approach that can be broadly defined as applying knowledge gained from basic science to clinically relevant problems. Long-term objectives are to provide a molecular basis for early detection, prevention and treatment. Over the past decade we have seen the identification of tumor suppressor genes and have established some of the multi-step mechanisms that lead to cancer.
