CCNS 2011 Excellence Awards
•It is time once again to think about who you would like to nominate for Cancer Care Nova Scotia’s Excellence Awards. The 2011 awards recognize leadership, innovative practice and excellence in patient care for Nova Scotia cancer patients and families.
Help us recognize the people, their work and their accomplishments to prevent, treat and cure cancer.
The deadline for nominations is April 29, 2011.

Canada games will be smoke-free in Nova Scotia
Kudos to the 2011 Canada Games organizing committee for making the decision to be tobacco-free for all athletes, volunteers and spectators. Tobacco-free means no smoking, snuffing, dipping or chewing tobacco at any 2011 Canada Games event or venue. Having the Games tobacco-free will create an environment which will help reduce the likelihood of young people starting to use tobacco, support people who are trying to stop or reduce their tobacco use and protect everyone from exposure to second-hand smoke. The Tobacco-Free Sport and Recreation logo is a friendly reminder for people not to use tobacco where it is displayed.
For more information on how to create and implement a tobacco-free sport and recreation policy for your members and supporters, contact Judy Purcell, CCNS Prevention Coordinator, by email at or by phone at 902-473-6063.

Congratulations Mike
•Congratulations to Mike Kennedy, CCNS Project Manager, Screening for Distress, who was recently recognized as the 2010 Ross L.
