• Have you nominated someone for a CCNS Excellence Award yet? The Awards are an opportunity to honour the many health professionals and volunteers who routinely go above and beyond to ensure Nova Scotia cancer patients and families receive high quality treatment and care.

Because this is the fifth anniversary of the awards, we will accept nominations for pioneer excellence as well as leadership, and excellence in patient care. Two awards will be presented in the Excellence in Patient Care category: one to recogniNews and Notesze a health professional contribution and one to recognize the valuable role of volunteers; one award will recognize Leadership Excellence and one award will be presented to recognize Pioneer Excellence. The deadline for nominations is April 26, 2013.

• Plan to attend the next Cancer Answers lecture, being held on Tuesday, April 16th. Deborah McLeod, a clinician scientist, with Capital Health’s Psychosocial Oncology Team will speak about “Coping with cancer-related sleep issues.” The lecture will be held from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., in the Royal Bank Lecture Theatre of the Halifax Infirmary, and will be available by video conference at 19 sites across the province.
