CCNS Excellence Awards 2015 – November 18th

People choose to work or volunteer in a specific field for a variety of reasons. However, most who work or volunteer in the cancer system will tell you their days are challenging, always busy, and sometimes heart-breaking -- but more often than not, also incredibly rewarding.

Cancer Care Nova Scotia (CCNS) will acknowledge and thank all who are part of the cancer system – health professionals, administrators and volunteers at the CCNS Excellence Awards on November 18th in Halifax.

Plan to join colleagues and volunteers from across the province to celebrate our collective accomplishments and ongoing work to provide Nova Scotia cancer patients and families with high quality prevention, treatment and care.

The celebration begins at 4:30 p.m. in the Bethune Ballroom, Victoria General Site of the Queen Eliza2015awardstatuebeth II Health Sciences Centre. This date was chosen to precede the annual fall Provincial Cancer Network meeting, which is scheduled for November 19th and 20th.

The late afternoon timeframe was chosen to accommodate both those who are travelling to the city and those who work in HRM and are finishing their work day.

In addition to acknowledging all who contribute to the cancer system, Cancer Care Nova Scotia will present three awards in two categories: excellence in patient care and leadership. Two awards will be presented under the excellence in patient care umbrella, one recognizing a health professional or health professional group and the other recognizing a volunteer or volunteer group. The third award will recognize leadership excellence.

Since the Excellence Awards were introduced in 2009, CCNS has recognized the contributions of 12 amazing individuals and six talented groups or teams. These individuals and teams were chosen from many worthy nominations and were honoured for leadership, innovation, and excellence in patient care. On November 18th, we’ll add another three individuals or teams to the tally.

We hope you can join us on November 18th to celebrate the recipients of the 2015 Excellence Awards and all health professionals, administrators, and volunteers who work tirelessly for Nova Scotia cancer patients and families. Invitations will be sent via email in late October.
