Recognizing Excellence
2015awards

Ordinary people doing extraordinary things …. People, in communities across Nova Scotia who because of a chosen career and/or a desire to give back to their community, do extraordinary things for others each and every day.

Those who work or volunteer with cancer patients and their families are part of this large and dedicated group. Cancer Care Nova Scotia’s Excellence Awards were introduced to recognize the commitment of ordinary Nova Scotians, each doing their bit to improve cancer prevention, treatment and care for Nova Scotia patients and families.

"Cancer Care Nova Scotia's role is to strengthen the cancer care system by working in partnership with health administrators, health professionals, patients, families and others," said Bob Russell, board member and chair of the 2015 Excellence Awards Committee. "Our health-care community does the heavy lifting to help ease the journey for patients and families."

“The awards celebrate the efforts in making our cancer care system the very best it can be. I encourage all who are part of our extended health-care community, as well as patients and families who have been impacted by cancer in any way, to consider nominating someone they believe has made a difference."

Three awards will be presented in two categories:
-- Leadership excellence
-- Excellence in patient care (two awards). One award will recognize health professional contributions and one will highlight the valuable role of volunteers.

The Awards ceremony will be held on November 18, 2015, the evening prior to the Fall Provincial Cancer Network meeting. More details about the ceremony will follow later.
In the meantime, please consider nominating someone today and help us recognize health care providers, volunteers, and all who work to prevent, treat and cure cancer.

The deadline for nominations is September 21, 2015. Visit the CCNS website at www.cancercare.ns.ca/awards or call 1-866-599-2267 for nomination details.

The awards were introduced in 2009, to mark the organization's 10th anniversary.
