Action in your Community against Tobacco (ACT)

Together with the Canadian Cancer Society – Nova Scotia Division, other health care groups and the provincial government, CCNS developed ACT – an initiative designed to support communities to take effective action against tobacco.

It contains two main components: 1) a tobacco tool kit to provide community members with practical, evidence-based tobacco control activity ideas for use in their communities, and 2) an orientation and ongoing support system to both encourage the use of the tool kit and contribute to the enhancement of the tool kit over time.

Launched in October 2001, ACT has evolved into a network of mentors and community volunteers working together to reduce tobacco use in their communities.
