Oncologic Emergencies

CCNS has recently developed Guidelines for the Management of Oncologic Emergencies in Adult Cancer Patients. The guidelines were developed in consultation with Oncology, Emergency and EHS health professionals from across Nova Scotia.

The guidelines address the most common emergency situations experienced by adult cancer patients: Bleeding (GI,Hematuria, Hemoptysis and Vaginal bleeding), Brain Metastases, Increased Intracranial Pressure (ICP) and Seizures, DIC, Febrile Neutropenia, Hyperviscosity Syndrome, Malignant Airway Obstruction, Malignancy Associated Hypercalcemia, Spinal Cord Compression, Superior Vena Cava Obstruction, Syndrome of Inappropriate Antidiuretic Hormone Secretion &Tumor Lysis Syndrome.
