Cancer Management Guidelines
Cancer Care Nova Scotia supports the development and use of cancer management guidelines. These guidelines help ensure that patients are receiving quality, consistent care across the province.
The guidelines may be developed by the Cancer Care Nova Scotia Provincial Cancer Site Teams, or adapted from other guideline developers, to act as tools for health professionals. Guideline development involves reviewing current medical literature, treatment practice and care delivery, and consensus-development discussions between various health professionals. Every guideline written by Cancer Care Nova Scotia is sent for review by health care professionals in Nova Scotia and other provinces to make sure it is accurate and easy to use. Currently, there are a number of guidelines in development. Guidelines are reviewed on a regular basis and as new evidence appears.
If you are interested in guidelines on other topics, please see Standards and Guidelines Evidence Database (SAGE), hosted by the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer.
For Breast Screening Guidelines please see the Nova Scotia Breast Screening Program's website.
We welcome the participation of health professionals in Nova Scotia who are interested in helping with the development or review of guidelines. Please contact Jill Petrella at 902 473-2936 or ccns.nshealth.ca for more information.
