First Nations Cultural Safety and Sensitivity for Non-First Nations Health Professionals
This First Nations Module on Cultural Safety and Sensitivity aids in educating non-First Nations health professionals on the challenges and perspectives unique to First Nations as they receive cancer care.
The module is facilitated by First Nations throughout Nova Scotia and includes discussions around culture, traditions, health and healing, death and dying, traditions, colonialism, racism, and non-insured health benefits.
Through interactive discussions and activities, this module provides an opportunity for health professionals to improve their understanding of First Nations, and through this understanding, help improve the health care they provide to First Nations people.
The module was developed in collaboration with First Nation partners in the four Atlantic Provinces, the Atlantic Policy Congress of First Nations Chiefs and Cancer Care Nova Scotia.
